[It's not common for Maze's bounty-hunting trips take her far from LA, and even less common for them to take her out of the country in general, but the perp she's trailing now is anything but common. For one thing, he has the means to skip town and fly overseas like it's nothing, something that most low-level gang-bangers lack; for another, he's somehow managed to evade the authorities at every airport and border control that he's passed through, which suggests an alternate identity and a practiced ease with using it. Both these things make the LAPD reluctant to put her on the case - this might be above her pay grade, they reason, and besides, her skills have always leaned more towards fighting and brute force than reconnaissance. But while it's true that laying low and trying to suss out some dude who's hiding in plain sight doesn't sound very appealing, it's the first argument that makes her really fight for the job. Nothing is above her pay grade.

Reluctantly, half-heartedly, the force agrees to give her the job (not in the least because a few higher-ups are worried that if they don't, she'll go rogue and take off after him anyway). She's given strict instructions (don't try to confront him, don't try to take him down yourself, just figure out what name he's using so that we can put an alert out on the passport he's traveling under) that she half-listens to. She can definitely do that last thing, but she doesn't plan to make any promises regarding the first two.

His name - his real name - surfaces in London on one of the underground networks that INTERPOL monitors, so Maze heads there first. She's vaguely aware of Constantine's turf being in some London or another, but human geography really isn't her strong suit; they have this stupid habit of using the same place names over and over and over again, and keeping track of it all really is more trouble than it's worth, especially where multiverses are involved. The thought that he could show up while working on a problem of his own, as he has several times in the past, doesn't even cross her mind. Not even when she's, say, single-handedly beating up a squad of gangster bodyguards in an alleyway at 3am, and making quite a lot of noise while doing it.]
