Territory war. Elves were much more powerful than humans. Had magic, and superior weapons and combat skills. Novron stopped them.

The part that history got wrong was that Novron wasn't human. He was an elf, himself. He'd fallen in love with a human woman, and wanted to defend her city from his own race's path of destruction.
