[The former Snowhellions had been very lucky to be able to, eventually, find a way to take control of whatever powers had brought them to Norfinbury. Even luckier, they'd been able to stabilize them, effectively giving themselves a portal to the multiverse - or, at least, to each other's worlds. Some people went home. Some people went to their friends' worlds. And no matter where they ended up, most took advantage of their newfound freedom to visit and explore.

Alfie was not one of those people. It's been a year and a half now, and he hasn't left his world once. He allows visitors selectively. A few people essentially have carte blanche to swing by - and by now, John is one of them. Mostly, Alfie has showed him around the city - but today, he has something a little different in mind.

The Camden Town of Alfie's day is a lot smoggier than John will be used to. It's loud and chaotic as they walk down the road, particularly as they get closer to the docks. Ahead of them, Alfie's bakery building looms large.]

It'll be a busy day. Yeah, it's race day; everyone from the neighborhood will be coming by to place their bets.

[That's one of the reasons why Alfie has decided to let Watson visit today. Plenty of illegal business will be going on, but none of it will be the stuff that he'll object to. Alfie doesn't have any meetings or special events going on. His gun isn't likely to come out.]

[It's been a long, full day of walking, and by the time they reach the house, Alfie is ready to be inside. There's rarely heat in any of these buildings, and the cold permeates them enough that it's never fully warm even behind closed doors - but it's at least warmer, and without the biting wind. He sheds his coat and kicks off his boots, and turns to Fiona.]

I'll check the upstairs if you check downstairs.

[It's a system they've developed, for the nights that they're together - they split the search of the house so that it'll go quicker. Each has learned what items, tidbits, and clues the other might be interested in, and they'll take note of them for each other, to share when the search is done. Over time, they've both come to trust each other not to keep things hidden - and not to steal from each other. Alfie never thinks twice anymore about swinging his pack off his shoulder and leaving it unattended with her downstairs.]

Looks like a big house. Could save some of the searching for tomorrow.

[He always likes to do a once-over to look for any dangers or unexpected surprises, but in-depth supply searches are better done when they've had some rest - especially on the days like today, when his back has been bothering him for miles.]

Tired, Fiona?

[When the car radiator overheats for the third time in a week, Alfie takes it as a sign that it's finally time for more than just another quick tune-up.

They're in a deserted area, which is both good and bad. On the one hand, most of the dangerous gangs are still in urban areas, the way they had been before the world had gone to shit. Out here in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by miles and miles of fields with only the occasional small copse of trees, they're not likely to run into anyone at all, much less anyone dangerous. But on the other hand, if they do come across anyone, there won't be anywhere to run to or hide. Alfie, as always, has his pistol tucked into his coat pocket, and they have more weapons stashed away in the trunk. But they're a small group - no match for the bigger gangs with armored trucks and heavy artillery. If they meet one of those, they'll be slaughtered.

With his sleeves rolled up and the hood of the car open, he leans in with his tools, carefully tinkering away. He can't afford to make a mistake here - replacement parts are rare and precious. When he hears footsteps behind him, he doesn't dare look away from his work as he says sharply:]

Stay back. You don't want hot steam to the face.

[When it comes to wardens, Tiffany throws her file around like candy. If one she didn't particularly like or trust asked to see it, she'd be reluctant and possibly try to get out of it - but she both likes and trusts Louise, so when she'd asked if she could see it, Tiffany had had no problem handing it over. It hadn't been a big deal to her - she'd done it, and then immediately put it out of her mind.

Because of this, she doesn't make any connections or assumptions when Louise asks her to come over a day or two later. She just swings on by, casual and relaxed, and knocks on the door.]

Hey, it's me.

[He doesn't talk about it much, but Pitch actually goes a little stir-crazy in Haven sometimes. Of course, that doesn't mean he dislikes it in the city-- he's visible to everyone, and there's plenty of fear (the right kind of fear, even), so he can't complain about that. But he's used to having an entire planet as his playground, and here he can't even get from one quadrant of the city to another without walking. It's maddening.

Right now he's making his nighttime rounds in Haven West, wishing for the umpteenth time that he could just shadow-step over to the North and check things out over there really quickly. He's so distracted by his thoughts that at first, he doesn't even notice the small, colorful figure flying around a good twenty feet above his head. When he does notice, though, he isn't pleased. He immediately stalks into the closest shadow and teleports himself up onto the top of a nearby rooftop-- where he just stands, and stares, and waits.]

Toothiana.

[He says it loudly enough that she should be able to hear him, if she hasn't already spotted him.]

[Okay, so it was definitely kind of weird that Rosie was gathering up all these animals to take care of when they lived in a literal post-apocalyptic wasteland. It was setting herself up for heartbreak, really-- a flood or plague or famine could sweep in at any moment, leaving one or more of her pets dead. Why get attached to something that was probably destined to die early? Especially if it couldn't take care of itself.

But Rosie's makeshift zoo kept the animals safe from people who'd want to kill and eat them, so overall, April wasn't really complaining. (In this place-- where you actually had to kill and eat your own meat, something she hadn't actually been able to make herself do yet-- she was seriously considering becoming a vegetarian.) She even helped her roommate and kinda-sorta-maybe friend out a lot. It was a lot for just one person to handle.

And so here she is, heading back home from a not-incredibly-successful scavenging trip. She stops at the makeshift front door of their little hut.]

Knock, knock. Have you been killed and eaten yet?

[After his defeat at the hands of the Guardians, Pitch is laying low. He sort of has to, he knows. His plan had failed, and until he thinks up a new one-- a better one-- he doesn't want to attract their attention. That means no grand gestures, no big stunts, and definitely no tainting of the Sandman's good dreams. Which is too bad, really, because he misses doing that. He'd grown to like his nightmare horses, and now they're gone.

But he's adaptable, and there's still fear in the world-- and nightmares. He's watching one of them right now. It isn't a major one, really; just a kid dreaming he's standing in the middle of a crowded school hallway without pants on, and is being laughed at. But all the other people on the block are either still awake or having good dreams, so Pitch is taking what he can get.

He's lurking just outside the room. The window's cracked. He can slither in to get a closer look, and there's nobody around to stop him... right?]
timor: (this isn't a joint)
[personal profile] timor
[In the grand scheme of things, a few years is nothing to Pitch. He's been around in one form or another for millions of them, after all; what was three or four? And so, though he's spent a bit of time around Emilou Apacci (and had, at least to a certain extent, grown to enjoy her company), he'd thought nothing of dropping off her radar for a few years. She'd angered him. Not seriously, all things considered; he's used to people belittling him and saying he had no place in the world anymore. But he hadn't expected it from her-- and he'd been angry at her for saying it, and angry at himself for letting it bother him more then it would if it had been anyone else.

Still, eventually, he does get a little curious about what she's up to. So he sets off to find her again. He's still not sure whether or not he's going to reveal his presence to her once he does, though.]

[Vriska had been on Earth for about six weeks, and it hadn't taken her long to realize that finding Pitch was going to be a lot harder than she had anticipated.

She hadn't thought it would necessarily be easy-- but she's starting to worry that it'll be downright impossible. She'd found other spirits, and asked them-- and they'd either had no idea where Pitch was, had no clue who she was talking about, or simply didn't want to help her find him. It's frustrating, to say the least.

But she isn't going to give up. It's what she tells herself each evening when she wakes up (since Pitch himself prefers the night, she'd gone back to being nocturnal as soon as she'd arrived on the planet, figuring he'd be easier to find when it was dark out). Even if she has to search for years, or decades-- she has every intention of finding him.

When she finally does, it's entirely accidental. She's climbing a tree, planning to get high up enough to survey the area... when the branch under her cracks and sends her careening down towards the ground-- towards the rotting remains of an old wooden bed, actually. She twists to try to avoid it, but it doesn't work; the wood gives under her weight and she crashes through.

But instead of hitting the ground, she keeps falling, down into a hole that the bed had apparently been concealing.

Fuck. There's no way this is going to be any help in her search.]

IC: You find yourself in a huge luxury hotel, filled to the brim with cool amenities-- fancy restaurants, indoor and outdoor pools, a game room, a rooftop hot tub, and more. You also have a room key, which unlocks your swanky penthouse suite. What do you do?

OOC: Open post! Bring in your characters from any and all games/verses/timelines/etc. Canon, OC, AU, crack... it's all good. There really aren't any rules to this, other than "don't do things to keep other players from having fun", like godmodding, fourthwalling without permission, or destroying the resort. (THAT SAID, if you want your character to destroy something/kill someone/whatever and you can't find another player to play it out with, feel free to just make up an item/NPC for them to ruin. Just keep it to your own thread-- or start a new thread-- so that people who don't want to have their characters react to it don't have to.) Other than that, comment to whoever you want, with whoever you want, in any format that you want (actionspam/prose/etc.). The setting is flexible-- it's a towering, sprawling hotel complex with hundreds of rooms on each floor, so make up plausible items/sights/attractions/etc. at your leisure. If you want to know if you can do something, the answer is YES.
